Our methodology

Our academy program is designed to enhance the abilities of young aspiring soccer players. Players will work with different UEFA qualified coaches in every session, each one devoted to developing the all-round player. The players participate on a development pathway under the Smart Football methodology.
With Smart Football we base all our training on the brain using perception, information processing, decision-making and the ability to execute every minute of the training. We have the ball and the decision-making process present in our minds 100% of our training-session. We constantly stimulate the players brain during the exercises, with our primary goal to build experienced players at as young an age as possible.

Studies show that more experienced players, and professionals from other work sectors in positions where decision making is vital, develop a fat called myelin in their brain. Myelin is a protein that covers the connections between the neurons. The more myelin you have, the faster the information travels between the neurons. It can be compared to an electric cable surrounding our brain neurons. The thicker, the faster, the better.
Therefore, our sessions are broken into four problems. Each problem is specifically designed to work the players cognitively and involves frequent decision making, while also working them technically, tactically and physically. This unique structure is as follows:

Problem 1: The focus is around establishing possession in small boxes against an opposition team. We concentrate on small numbers where the players have an individual focus, but also is the first phase of small group tactics.
Problem 2: This is a progression of P.1. In P.2 we now focus on directional possession with goals and clear objectives. We involve more players, which directly incorporates more real game decisions. In P2 there is a strong emphasis on the transitional elements of the game.

Problem 3: P.3 emphasizes the attacking and defensive decisions which have to made in the final third. We create different overload situations for the players, focusing on playing to a finish at speed. Again we highlight the transitional element within this phase, always playing a prominent role in the players’ minds.

Problem 4: Is a real game situation, with a possible overload of numbers on one team, depending the the primary focus of the game. When the ball is turned over both teams will have to react and transition to defend or attack as per real game situations.

We take pride in the high standards of our academy. For this reason, our Elite Academy is limited to a certain number of spaces. All players are welcome to put forward their interest.
